Twilight Awakes came about after a Colorado family road trip to Pennsylvania where they saw fireflies for the first time. Fireflies are rare in Colorado and typically seen during very short windows of time in the summer months.
The head of the family was an electronics engineer who soon found a way to emulate fireflies with light emitting diodes (LEDs) and simple electronic circuits. A natural home for the LED fireflies was a Mason Jar. But why a Mason Jar?
Firstly: Mason Jars take many of us back to our childhood fascination with fireflies. Typically, children caught fireflies (with and without adult help) and put them in glass jars.
Secondly: Mason Jars are easily adapted to being solar powered.
Family and friends loved the firefly Mason Jar garden lamps.
Since those times the firefly Mason Jar garden lamps have undergone a number of improvements. This was driven by advances in LED technology and better and more streamlined ways of making them. Quality, however, was never compromised but actually improved. Each Mason Jar firefly garden lamp is still handcrafted from local and foreign bought components. Each one is unique. No two are exactly alike!
Future plans include a number of innovative improvements to the LED firefly lamps. Other plans include more outdoor garden lamps with special and unique lighting effects.
